What We Do
Every half term we offer children aged 5 and above a 4-day drama workshop during which they rehearse and perform an original adaptation of classic folk or fairy tales, tailor-made for young performers and written by TWAS Theatre.
These half-term workshops have proven to be a wonderful challenge for young performers as they have just 18 hours of rehearsals before putting on a 30 minute performance including original songs and dances. With such a tight time constraints we've seen students bond instantly, support each other in learning lines, and engage creatively in working towards a fantastic show despite the gaps in age.
These workshops are a source of creative development for young performers and are also an
opportunity for our team to develop writing skills and musicianship.
We have a maximum of 4 workshop leaders taking part in the process of the workshop. These 4
consist of the Writer, Musical Director, Director & Assistant Director, these workshop leaders are
also experienced in working with children. The passion that is projected by our team is shared
with these young performers which leads to a wonderful final product by the end of the 4-days.
Once the half-term workshop is complete we adapt and fine-tune the script, scenes and songs
to create a school package. We call this Scripts for Schools.
